OUR MISSION is to advance quality patient care in the treatment of cardiovascular disorders and other medical diseases in our community through the investigational drug and device technologies. We desire to promote the awareness of these new technologies among physicians and the general public through outreach clinics and educational opportunities.
OFCR is committed to bettering the health of our community, and the advancement of medical technology through a variety of research studies. Participants in our studies benefit from:

How do I become involved in a research study?
The Oklahoma Foundation for Cardiovascular Research is currently conducting several research studies in Oklahoma City. Participation in each of the different studies is restricted to people who meet certain criteria.
To be considered for a research study at OFCR, your first step is to contact the Foundation at (405) 608-1280 or (877) 684-4452. An experienced research coordinator (usually a research physician or a registered nurse) will contact you to inquire about your medical history and condition. The screening will determine if you meet the criteria for the study that we are currently conducting. If you do not meet the requirements of an existing study, your information will be retained and you will be contacted if you meet the criteria of a future study.
All participants in the study must sign an Informed Consent form. The form explains the study, the expected duration, any potential benefits and any potential side effects. All of the OFCR studies are conducted under the strict guidelines of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and our high ethical standards. People who participate in a study will receive related health care at no cost.
In a recent public opinion survey, Oklahomans placed a high value on the role of medical research. It was further reported that 95 percent of those responding felt that it was important for Oklahoma to be known as a leader in medical research and that three out of five people said they would be willing to participate as a volunteer in a clinical study.
To find out about our present studies see About Our Studies.

The Oklahoma Foundation for Cardiovascular Research is a research facility
which performs both inpatient and outpatient phase II, III and IV
trials. With 10 full time clinical research staff members, including
six clinical trial coordinators, our reputation for excellence continues to
grow. Our full-time staff, many of whom are R.N.'s and C.C.R.C.'s,
strive to maintain our commitment to the medical industry with an emphasis on
reaching enrollment goals, quality data collection and complete regulatory
compliance.
Our investigators are dedicated to evidence based medicine, have a broad
base of expertise and are among the finest physicians in the United
States. With a patient base of approximately 1 million people in the
Oklahoma City area, we offer a valuable service to both the sponsor and
participants. Our central location is within 20 minutes of the
airport and is just minutes from area highways for easy access. Our
facility is equipped with dedicated monitoring space, a pharmacy, a -20 degree
non-defrosting refrigerator, a laboratory, clinic rooms for patient visits,
CXR, EKG, holter monitoring, stress testing, and nuclear testing.
We are pleased to review any study protocols that would be beneficial to
our participants. We invite you to visit us at the OFCR research
facility anytime.

The Oklahoma Foundation for Cardiovascular Research began in 1993 when
cardiologists decided to create a non-profit foundation to benefit the people
of Oklahoma.
Their goal was to lower the mortality rate from heart disease by
educating patients about good cardiovascular health and to bring promising
device technology and drug therapy to the community through clinical studies.
These cardiologists have established working relationships with the
country’s top medical centers and National Institutes of Health. These
medical centers develop studies to test the benefits of new drugs or device
technologies on patient's overall health. They rely on centers, such as OFCR,
to participate in these studies. By participation in these
studies, our cardiologists remain on the cutting edge of medical technology.
Therefore, Oklahomans receive health care which is based on the latest
information until it is published in the medical literature.
Even though the foundation continues to make great strides in the
treatment of cardiac disease, more can always be done. Private
contributions can help the foundation achieve its top priority, the reduction
in the number of deaths due to cardiovascular disease. Private
contributions or memorials in honor of loved ones and friends are accepted. To
help cure cardiovascular disease, contact the Oklahoma Foundation for
Cardiovascular Research, 4200 W. Memorial Road, Suite 510, Oklahoma City, OK
73120. You can also contact OFCR at (405) 608-1280 or (877) 684-4452.
